The First Computer Memory

The first electric computer (previous computers were mechanical) was invented between 1939 and 1942 by John Atanasoff and Clifford Berry. The memory used was in the form of two rotating drums that held an electrical charge. The idea of using charged, rotating drums was short-lived as the invention of core memory was being developed in the 1940s.
